Elite Foldable Phone: The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is Official
Could this be the most ‘powerful’ flip phone of 2025?
Motorola has now released the new Motorola Razr 60 Ultra; an impressive follow-up to their Razr 50 Ultra flip phone released last year. More than just an iterative upgrade, the Razr 60 also changes a few things about the hardware in the phone. For some people, not all of these are necessarily positive.
If that sounds intriguing to you, then let’s check it out:
Elite, flip phone performance
The Razr 60 Ultra comes equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite; a substantial improvement from the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 found in the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra. Plenty of power for your games and for the AI features Motorola is integrating further into this handset. More on that later.
For now, let’s look at the other parts of the hardware. You’ve got a 6.9-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED for its main display, compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ for excellent viewing especially since as far as we can tell, the crease is even less visible this time around.
The cover screen is almost the same as its predecessor: a 4-inch 165Hz pOLED panel. Not to say it’s bad of course. It’s considered one of the best cover displays in a foldable phone for most people after all.
No headphone jack obviously, but it does offer stereo speakers with Snapdragon Sound, which helps elevator your music and audio playback.
Battery is up to 4,700mAh; bigger than the 4,000mAh cell on the Razr 50 Ultra. Charging is also up, from 45W on the 50 Ultra to 68W on the Razr 60 Ultra. Still no charger in the box though so you need to supply your own brick. Oh, protection has been bumped up as well, from IPX8 to IP48. Cool but not something we’re confident to recommend when going to a beach.
A camera downgrade?
Both the Razr 60 Ultra and its predecessor come with dual 50MP rear cameras but distributed a little differently. The Razr 50 Ultra opts for a 50MP main camera and a 50MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. On the other hand, the Razr 60 Ultra goes for a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide instead.
Honestly, your mileage will vary depending on how you use your phone cameras. Is the improved ultrawide worth more than genuine zoom capability? It’s up to you. Motorola does say that they can use AI and their own photo engine in order to mimic a 2x optical zoom effect with their main lens, which could be a good compromise.
The Razr 60 Ultra is available in Pantone Rio Red, Pantone Scarab, Pantone Cabaret, and Pantone Mountain Trail. The Mountain Trail is probably the more interesting one to look at, given that it’s made of FSC-certified wood.

Playing around with Moto AI
As per modern smartphones, this next line of Razr flip phones are launching with more focus on their Moto AI suite, delivering more features for your convenience. They’ve worked on improving initial prompts like “Catch Me Up”, “Pay Attention”, and “Remember This”, which should be a lot more accurate now.
You’ve got ‘Next Move’, where the AI provides recommendations like, a new travel schedule or recipe you can try based on previous endeavours. You’ve got the Playlist Studio, where the AI will compile a customized music playlist based on your prompt or mood. Image Studio is its main image generation feature while Look & Talk is mainly used for hands-free operation.
Smart Connect AI is mainly used for connecting your phone with other devices. For example, you can prompt it to “Show your Photos on TV” and the phone will try to mirror itself to your TV or monitor, which could be helpful for multitasking.
Motorola Razr 60: Second in line
In addition to the Ultra, Motorola will also be releasing the base Motorola Razr 60. The core experience should be quite similar though expect some downgraded specs in order to reach the much lower price point.
Instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the base Razr 60 opts for a Dimensity 7400X instead. It’s still a surprisingly capable and efficient chip of course. You can easily play all of your favorite mobile games at high frame rates while also powering its Moto AI features. Do note that some of these are exclusive to the Ultra variant, regardless of specs.
Likewise, the Razr 60 will also come with a dual rear camera setup, with a 50MP main camera as well as a lower 13MP ultrawide. Main photos should be on par with the more expensive Ultra variant at the very least.
