Galaxy Unpacked Announced for January 2025

Invites to this year’s first Galaxy Unpacked are out as the event’s confirmed to be taking place at San Jose, California this January 23. The event has been billed as “The Next Big Leap in Mobile AI Experiences”, with features that help it feel more ‘natural and intuitive’, according to Samsung.

Oh, and there’s going to be a couple of smartphones there too.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Reveal

On our side, we’re very much interested in the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. After all, leaks have been pointing towards another powerful Android iteration, with the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset as well as a boost in RAM in order to provide headroom for all these AI features.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly come with up to 16GB RAM, at least on the upper end. Unfortunately, the base model will still ship with 12GB, which should still be plenty for most users in our opinion. Storage starts with 256GB up to 1TB.

As for the design, well…it’s similar to the previous Galaxy S24 Ultra released last year. Leaks do point towards slightly more rounded edges and super-thin bezels. Could feel like a big departure especially for those who enjoyed the flatter designs of the previous generation but it should theoretically make them more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time.

Of course, we’re sure to get both the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus to go along with the reveal. And likewise, its overall specs shouldn’t be too far off from the upcoming Ultra. In any case, we’ll definitely find out more once January 23 swings along.

More Galaxy AI Announcements

Last year, we saw AI become a key focus for major phone manufacturers, with Google even devoting more of its keynote on AI even compared to the actual hardware. Galaxy Unpacked 2025 won’t be too different here, even highlighting their own Galaxy AI in their official invite.

Still, there’s no concrete details as to what kind of new features or improvements will be coming to their mobile AI suite. A lot of users appear to be quite lukewarm about AI features in general, according to an August survey from CNET.

But who knows? This may finally be the big year for all these mobile AI features, especially with the rumored new gadget category supposedly coming next:

Codename: Project Moohan

Google revealed their Android XR project last month, aimed at delivering Android and AI towards a more “immersive” experience, using all of their experience with AR and VR in order to make this possible. They’ve also partnered with Qualcomm and Samsung for this endeavor, and to let this product take an actual tangible form.

Samsung’s part in this collaboration is “Project Moohan” or ‘infinity’ in Korean. It’s a VR headset basically, meant to further integrate technology and by extension Google’s Gemini and Samsung’s Galaxy AI to your day-to-day routine.

As per Samsung’s newsroom, the headset will let you watch YouTube, navigate with Google Maps, or plan trips with the help of Gemini. Basically things you do on your phone just, on an interface on your face.

And yes, it does remind us of Apple’s Vision Pro headset as well as its quantum computing promises. Or Meta’s own Quest line but with an Android skin.

We’ll definitely be tuning in to the event and catching all the latest releases they’re offering. And stay tuned to see when we’ll be able to get these amazing items here at Kimstore. In the meantime, check out our great deal on the already released Galaxy A16 5G smartphone here!
