Master your Photography with the New Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro!
Is it a new flagship lineup? Not quite. The Xiaomi 14T lineup is more like a slightly pared down version of the flagship Xiaomi 14, bringing it to a more affordable price point without compromising on performance as much. Definitely a good way to make their latest tech a lot more accessible.
This time, both the Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro are focused on providing top-notch photography performance, especially with their partnership with Leica. Let’s take a look at what these new phones have to offer in that department:
A Familiar Aesthetic
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra delivers a very cool aesthetic that resembles a compact digital camera, especially when paired with its dedicated photography kit. As such, it can be a little disappointing that both the Xiaomi 14T and the Xiaomi 14T Pro opted for a more standard design.
Admittedly, it can be a struggle to tell the two phones apart at first glance. They sport a similar design language, including the square camera island. Even their colors are quite similar, coming in blue, black, and gray. The base Xiaomi 14T does get an additional Lemon Green color however.
The display is also similar, coming in at 6.67-inches and sporting HDR compatibility, variable refresh rate, and a similar resolution. The Pro is a little heavier though, and can be a bit nicer to hold due to the slight curve at the back.
Xiaomi has opted to go with MediaTek for both of these phones, with the Xiaomi 14T getting the Dimensity 8300 Ultra, and the Pro getting the Dimensity 9300+. Performance is much higher on the 14T Pro obviously, and it also stays cooler during more intensive sessions.
But of course, the main difference obviously lies with the camera array. Or does it?
Camera Overview: Powered by Leica
Let’s start with the Pro version of the phone. On paper, they all seem to sport the same setup with a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP telephoto lens, and a 12 MP ultrawide. Same with the 32 MP selfie camera. Officially, there’s some differences though around the main camera. It’s an OmniVision sensor, a little wider and brighter than the older generation.
The basic Xiaomi 14T shares some similarities in terms of overall numbers but its main camera is the slightly older Sony IMX906; still a great sensor for taking photos. Aperture on both its main camera and telephoto are slightly smaller as well.
Both phones are capable of producing impressive shots though of course, the 14T Pro gets a pronounced advantage in mixed and low-light conditions. Still, if you prefer to take photos during daylight, you should get impressive results either way. Both phones also come with optical image stabilization on their main cameras, helping steady your shots for clearer pictures.

Fun with Leica’s Photography Styles!
Regardless of the model you choose, both phones have their cameras tuned by Leica, giving you some versatility to its color range and shooting styles. For example, choosing ‘Leica’s Authentic’ mode gets you more realistic colors while ‘Vivid’ boosts the saturation and colors up a bit, perfect for social media sharing.
Alternatively, you can try out either Leica Portrait or Master Portrait modes when photographing people like friends and relatives. Master Portrait offers better controls over depth as well as a more natural-looking bokeh. Still, we’re confident that you’ll be able to make the most of either mode.
For video enthusiasts, you get ‘Movie Mode’ which affects your framing, turning your video into a 2.39:1 film aspect ratio, while also producing the so-called ‘Cinematic Blur’ movies are known for. Definitely a good effect if you’re after a more fantasy feel to your video. There’s also ‘Director Mode’, which opens up more parameters for you to control, akin to a manual mode on a traditional DSLR.
