The Pixel 7A: Still a Great Buy this 2024!
Google’s own “A” series devices are primarily great buys due to having mostly similar specs as their standard and Pro siblings. For starters, it’s powered by the same Tensor G2 as the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro so you’re not losing out on any performance if that’s what’s important to you.
Photography is another aspect where Google’s smartphones really shine. In the case of the Pixel 7A, you get a 64MP Quad Bayer sensor with a f/1.9 aperture, complete with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), helping you take clearer, more detailed shots. There’s also a 13MP ultrawide for those sweeping landscape shots.
Front camera is a modest 13MP sensor with no autofocus. To be fair, this isn’t a thing on the more expensive Pixel 7 or 7 Pro either. Regardless, photos taken by the unit are very, very good, with clear details and accurate skin tones, thanks to Google’s processing chops.
So far so good but, is there a catch you ask? Kind of. This Pixel 7A is the Japan model, meaning you’ve got the obligatory shutter sound whenever you use the camera for taking photos; a privacy measure done by companies for that market. Oh, and at the time of this writing, only “Snow” colored variants are left for the taking.
Other than that, you’ve got the usual “using a Pixel phone in the Philippines” quirks such as the lack of proper 5G support, limiting you to our 4G networks. As far as cameras go, the Xperia 5 IV is packing four 12MP cameras, including the selfie camera. On the back, you have the usual wide, ultrawide, and telephoto lens. Everything except the zoom lenses should be similar to the more expensive Xperia 1 IV. And yes, you do get Photo Pro which should give you plenty of creative control as to how your apps look.
Still, one other cool thing we do enjoy on the Xperia 5 is its inclusion of fan-favorite features like a 3.5mm audio jack and microSD expansion! Our model on sale already comes with 256GB of storage but, this should be helpful for those who need more storage for their files!
