AI is Coming...to Your Galaxy Buds and Pixel Buds
AI continues to be the word in smartphone innovation this 2024. Samsung debuted their Galaxy AI alongside their latest Galaxy S24, while Google continues to build upon its lead with Gemini (formerly known as Google Bard), launching three new tiers for the program. And now, all of these AI features seem to be making their way towards earphones of all places.
But what kind of AI integration exactly? Well, it’s mostly got to do with that convenient live translation:
Samsung’s Galaxy AI headed to Galaxy Buds2, Galaxy Buds2 Pro, and Galaxy Buds FE
In order to really pave the way for its AI-powered vision, Samsung’s bringing some of their AI features to certain Galaxy Buds models. These additions are primarily related to its Live Translation and Interpretation features.
Still, the whole effect will work only for those with Galaxy S24 for now. Not really surprising as we're still waiting for Galaxy AI to come to older Galaxy models.
With Live Translation, users can speak directly into their Galaxy Buds mic and the translated voice will automatically be made available! According to Samsung, the goal is to immediately enable near-natural conversation provided both members are using S24 phones.
Samsung did say that these main two features will be done on-device. An active internet connection isn’t needed in order to use them.
The features will be delivered via an over-the-air (OTA) update to the following: Galaxy Buds2, Galaxy Buds2 Pro, and Galaxy Buds FE. You don’t need to buy completely new earphones to get these features if you’ve already bought them before.
With excellent active noise canceling, comfortable fit, and now, AI integration, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro makes for a very compelling audio option. Get it at a great price here at Kimstore!
Google Gemini could be coming in a future Pixel Buds release
While Google hasn’t quite confirmed if it will be following Samsung’s “AI on headphones” push, a string discovered within the latest beta version of the Gemini app does hint at the possibility. Additionally, Gemini’s support page also states that other devices with built-in Google Assistant like watches, Smart Displays, Pixel Tablets, and yes, headphones could get Gemini support in the future.
So it’s a big maybe for Google for now. The Gemini rebrand is still quite new and Google’s still in the process of making improvements based on current user feedback. Additionally, Gemini itself still lacks some of Assistant’s features like routines and reminders.
Still, those who love the added convenience of AI integration in tech should have something to look forward to. For a lot of people out there, it’s probably only a matter of time before we see these AI features in even more devices and peripherals.
