Infinix Note 40 Series Officially Launches

The Infinix Note 40 series has officially launched, offering three new smartphones in the midrange segment. The line consists of the Infinix Note 40, the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G, and the Infinix Note 40 Pro+ 5G, each sporting features that makes one worth buying over the other depending on the user.

There’s some significant upgrades to all three models of course, which in our opinion, does make them worth a look at, if you’re coming from some of the older Infinix Note or Hot lines. Let’s take a look at these features here:

Excellent AMOLED Displays

Starting with the display, all three phones are stated to come with a Full HD+ AMOLED panel, leading to more vivid colors, better contrast, and in the Note 40’s case, fast 120Hz refresh rates. As such, using any of these devices to scroll apps, read text, and even play some games should feel quite smooth and responsive.

As for brightness, initial tests put it at around 1,300 nits peak brightness as well as 2,160Hz high frequency PWM dimming. So it’s not bad but the score definitely puts it in the midrange segment.

The phone’s generally well-protected, with Gorilla Glass covering the phone though if that’s not enough for you, Infinix also includes a tempered glass screen protector here. Unfortunately, the phones only get IP53 dust and splash resistance so you can’t quite go swimming in the pool with it yet.

Battery and fast charging improvements across the board

One of the line’s biggest highlights is their new Cheetah X1 power management chip. It basically brings features that help the battery last longer, thanks to real-time monitoring and better thermal management. And yes, it should be able to accommodate both wired and wireless charging as well as the reverse.

The Cheetah X1 is also key to delivering Infinix’s All-Round FastCharge 2.0, which are said to be capable of supporting 260W wired and 110W wireless charging. However, that doesn’t mean that all three phones will achieve these speeds though as Infinix did confirm that the Note 40 Pro+ 5G only supports 100W wired charging for now so, a little lower than something like the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G with its 120W.

That’s still an impressive speed that helps the phone reach 50% from 0 in just eight minutes.

Going all-in on that fast charging

And yes, Infinix is seemingly doubling down on their fast-charging claims by releasing the Infinix MagKit charging set. It’s a package that includes the GaN 68W Fast Charger, MagCase phone case for your phone, the MagPad, and the MagPower power bank with 3,020mAh built-in battery. It’s a surprisingly nifty set, especially if you want to try out fast wireless charging on a more affordable budget.

108 MP Main Camera!

Surprisingly, cameras are similar among the three models. All of them are led by a 108 MP main camera and OIS, so you should be able to take great looking photos with excellent details even up close. Selfie camera isn’t too bad either, with a 32 MP wide-angle shooter though no autofocus of any sort.

The other rear cameras are the usual macro and depth cameras which is kind of unfortunate. We think having an ultrawide or a zoom camera, even if just on the more expensive Pro models would make it more versatile.

Performance courtesy of Mediatek

With the phones having just been released, more time is needed to see what kind of performance to expect for using apps and games. The base Infinix Note 40 is powered by a Mediatek Helio G99 Ultimate chipset, which should provide solid performance at the expense of 5G capabilities. A little baffling, considering the Infinix Note 30 does have a 5G variant.

On the other hand, both the Note 40 Pro and the Note 40 Pro+ will be powered by a Dimensity 7020 chipset, with up to 12GB RAM that users can double via its extended RAM feature. All phones will launch with Infinite XOS14 installed. Pro 40 models are also stated for two years of Android OS upgrades.
