What to expect from Counter Strike 2

Attention, gamers: Valve has officially announced Counter Strike 2. This is not a drill. Counter Strike is one of the world’s most played first-person shooters and has a legacy that literally spans decades. Counter Strike has been a cornerstone of esports even before esports was a thing.

What’s New?

Volumetric Smokes

Smoke grenades are one of Counter Strike’s

With the new Source 2 Game Engine, smoke now physically occupies space within the environment which means it interacts with whatever’s happening. Smoke grenades will look the same way to everyone even across graphic settings. Smoke can be affected by movement and dispersed by bullets and momentarily affected by H.E. grenades.

Sub-tick Updates

Quick reflexes can make the biggest difference between winning or losing. With Counter Strike 2’s new sub-tick updates, the server is instantly updated when a player shoots, moves, or does anything.

Map Updates

Counter Strike 2’s maps have been updated graphically. The classic maps will all be playable with a more vibrant look. It looks like Valve did try to stay away from being cartoon-y, still setting itself apart from competitors like Valorant and Overwatch 2.

Did you spend a lot of dough on CS:GO skins? The good news is that skins will be transferable to Counter Strike 2.

According to Valve “all of your weapon finishes, stickers, and other CS:GO inventory items will be available to use in Counter-Strike 2.” Good news for the community too as VAC bans will also carry over to the new game.

Counter Strike 2 will be a free replacement to CS:GO and is currently on limited invite-only test. Full release is expected in Summer 2023.

(Writers Note: i will probably still be bad at counter strike 2)
