What to Expect from Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2024:
Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event is coming in just a couple of days, leading to much excitement among the brand’s biggest fans. While it’s becoming certain that the event is meant to launch their latest Galaxy S24 lineup, there’s still much speculation as to what else will be announced during the event, ranging from new updates to new wearables.
With that said, here’s a list of all the things speculated to be announced in the next few days. Aside from the flagships, which of these announcements are you most excited for?
Samsung Galaxy S24 Flagship Phones
The star of the show is no doubt, the Samsung Galaxy S24 line. Like the S23 line, we’re definitely getting three different versions, with each phone having some differences aside from their size, shape, and color.
For starters, you could be getting a different processor depending on which version you spring for. Both the Galaxy S24 and S24+ could come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or an Exynos 2400 depending on region. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will use the Snapdragon chip exclusively.
While all phones have received a bump in max brightness (up to 2,600 nits, according to some leaks), and dynamic refresh rates, the Galaxy S24+ gets bumped up to a 1440p display; a big bump from the Galaxy S23+’s FHD display.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra gets the most tangible changes. Based on initial leaked images, the phone now sports a flat display, making it resemble the older Note series even more. And, like the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the S24 Ultra also gets the titanium frame treatment. The S-Pen is also still included in the package.
Samsung’s currently holding a pre-registration event where users can get a discount voucher for their next Galaxy order. We’ll be following along to get the details regarding pricing for all three models.
One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI
In addition to their flagship phone announcements, we’ll also be getting more details regarding Samsung’s AI features, which will be coming with the One UI 6.1 update. These features are said to help put Galaxy devices on par with Google’s Pixel phones in terms of AI performance.
One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI will bring generative capabilities such as AI wallpapers as well as a whole host of convenient functions like live translation, battery protection to help stave battery degradation, voice focus for improving call quality, and Ultra HDR support, or whatever Samsung decides to call their own take on the feature.
For those who want to keep their phone for much longer though, (especially if they’re already powerful flagship phones) there might be great news. Rumors from Android Headlines point to the Galaxy S24 following the Google Pixel’s lead with the Pixel 8 line and offering up to seven years of updates. Not clear if this covers OS updates or just security patches though.
Whether these will trickle down to older flagships like the Galaxy S23 remains to be seen. Again, this is something that we’ll have to confirm during the actual event.

Any wearables or tablets?
Aside from accessories like phone cases for its new flagship line, speculators note that it’s unlikely for Samsung to announce any other devices. Galaxy Unpacked 2024 will probably keep the spotlight on the Galaxy S24 and other related aspects to it.
So anyone waiting for a new Galaxy Watch or Tablet announcement will probably have to wait until the middle of the year. And while there’s some talk about a possible upgrade for the Galaxy Buds Pro 2, no concrete leaks have circulated around this possibility.
In the meantime, existing accessories such as the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic should still work fine with the latest handsets. We’ve even got them at a discounted price nowadays!
Samsung Galaxy…Ring?
Of course, a Galaxy wearable may still be revealed during the event. This would be the previously leaked “Galaxy Ring” which operates in the same line as fitness devices like the Oura Ring (pictured above) or Ultrahuman Ring Air.
Like their Galaxy Watch, the Galaxy Ring is a fitness tracker that brings functions such as heart rate monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, sleep analysis, and of course, activity and sports tracking. Some of these may require FDA approval before they’re allowed to work though, so they may not launch with all of the features active.
Speculation has pointed to a number of different release dates ranging from the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 18 to the third quarter of 2024, or even the first quarter of 2025. We’ll have to wait and see.
